Food is something that brings the world together. Each culture has its own traditions and favorite foods. As a self proclaimed foodie, I was so excited to try cuisines in the countries they originated in. During my travels, I have discovered and will undoubtedly continue to discover culinary treasures around the globe. I am honored to share with you, My Elephant Tribe, the amazing meals I have enjoyed throughout the world.
Day 93: Thailand
The rain was falling again this morning. Mary and I were sending Marco Polo videos back and forth. She couldn't believe how loud the rain was against the tin roof. We talked about this website and how anxious I am for it to launch, but how I want it to be absolutely perfect.
Once we finished our conversation, I was left doing some self reflection. My 29th birthday is in 4 days. What do I want to accomplish in the next year before I’m 30? Well, here’s what I’ve come up with:
- I want to travel as much as I possibly can
- I want to reconnect with people who are important to me that I haven't seen in awhile
- I want this website to be profitable
- I want to create a YouTube channel for The Journey Within
- I want to inspire others to live their best life
- I want to fall in love
- I want to see the Cubs win the World Series 2 years in a row
- I want to go to India
- I want to go back to Haiti
- I want to lose 100lbs
- I want to focus on living in the present
Turning 30 doesn't scare me. If anything, I’m excited. Each year of my life gets better and better. I know 28 has been amazing and I know 29 will be even better and 30 will even surpass that. I am going to live for today and only today. It is the only day I am guaranteed. So for now I will focus on the last couple of days as a 28 year old.
To do that I found the place with the best pad thai in Phuket because, why not? I walked about a block to the restaurant. I was seated and given a menu as the waitress stood by to take my order. I was so confused because they didn't have pad thai. They had tacos. Thai tacos? The waitress was growing impatient with me so I quickly ordered the pulled pork tacos without even thinking. This was going to be an experience. Surprisingly, the tacos were actually really good. They were flavorful and exactly what I was looking for. Allowing yourself to be open to whatever may come creates a space for surprising and amazing things to take place. How can you be more open in your life? What are you missing out on?
