Watch the Sunset

Day 9:  Costa Rica

We got up this morning and traveled 5 hours to get to our next home for a couple of days.  Along the way we got to drive onto a ferry to come across the water.  The view was amazing.  As I sat on the ferry looking out at the beautiful water and thought that what we really get to do is slow down.  What have we been missing because we are moving at warp speed, hyper focused on one, maybe two things?  It is very rare that I see people truly being present.  And because of that we miss out on all of the beauty that is around us.  The ferry ride lasted about an hour and a half.  I was present to the beauty around me all 90 minutes.  I had to share the beauty with all of my loved ones back home.  If you don't already use it, download the app Marco Polo.  It is so much fun.  It allows you to record video messages to your friends all over the globe and they can respond.  It’s how I keep in touch with the Griesses and my mom.

After departing the boat we drove another hour up and down the gravel and pothole filled mountain roads to the beautiful town of Santa Teresa in Malpais.  After checking in, we didn't waste anytime getting to the beach.  The air is hot and the water is beautiful with crashing waves.  Much different than the calm waters in Belize.  As I sat writing on the beach I thought what better place to write than with the peacefulness of the ocean and the fresh sea air.

When we arrived at the beach there were only a handful of people.  I got so caught up in my writing.  I got the urge to look up about 2 hours later only to find a beautiful sunset and a full beach.  Tourists, locals, you name it taking a few minutes to be present and watch a sunset.  When was the last time you saw the sunset?  I challenge you to watch the sunset at least once this week.  There really is nothing that compares to the beauty of a sunrise or sunset.  I found another happy place today.  Sitting on the beach, watching the sunset.  It is magnificent.  I want to watch as many sunsets as I possibly can, at least one in every country.  So, here is to Costa Rica and a breathtaking sunset on the beach.  In a little while we will go clean up for dinner, but for now I’m just going to watch the waves come in as it gets dark.

We went to an Argentinean BBQ restaurant called Las Piedras.  It came highly recommended by our Argentinean AirBNB hosts.  The food was delicious and I would recommend it as well.  We shared the mixed grill for 2.  It came with chicken, lamb and beef.  it was all tender and yummy.  I did partake in the beef and lamb and my tummy paid for it later.  However, I don't regret it.  It tasted soooo good.  Tomorrow, I will keep it to chicken and fish and all will be good.  Well, at least I will try.  I cannot make promises.
