There is Beauty in...Salt

Day 108:  Poland

This morning I headed back to Krakow Tours for my final tour of this trip to Wieliczka Salt Mine.  It came recommended by all of my friends that had been there before.  Normally, a salt mine wouldn’t even be something I would consider, but I was really excited because I really enjoyed the one in Bogota.

When I arrived and our tour began I got to add to my stair count.  Although, this time the 380 stairs were descending.  Which made them much easier and less energy was spent traveling them.  When we got to the bottom, we made our way through the maze of mine shafts.  The tour guide invited us to lick the walls.  I passed given I had know idea how many other people licked that wall before me.  I am not a germaphobe, but even that seems a little unsanitary for me.

At the end of the final hallway there was an incredibly beautiful chapel.  I could not help but to compare it to the one we saw in Bogota.  As far as which one was more stunning, my vote has to go to Wieliczka.  It was beyond anything I would have ever imagined to be below ground in a salt mine.  Have you ever been to a salt mine?

I was so glad today was not an emotional day.  I was still recovering from yesterday.  When I got back to town, I decided to grab some dinner and call it a night.  I was in need of good conversation, so I went back to Horoscope in hopes that my new friend would be working.  Unfortunately, he was not.  Nonetheless, my meal was delicious.

I headed back to my apartment to settle in for the night when I received a phone call from JD, the amazing designer of this site.  Exciting things are in the works.  I get more and more excited about this website launching with every phone call we have.  I am ready to share it with all of you.  It has been a journey.
