Food is something that brings the world together. Each culture has its own traditions and favorite foods. As a self proclaimed foodie, I was so excited to try cuisines in the countries they originated in. During my travels, I have discovered and will undoubtedly continue to discover culinary treasures around the globe. I am honored to share with you, My Elephant Tribe, the amazing meals I have enjoyed throughout the world.
Day 43: Argentina & ?
I’m really afraid I’m getting sick. I couldn’t sleep last night. My body was achy and it was very painful to sleep. I kept tossing and turning. Its no wonder we were running late again this morning. I didn't sleep and packing was actually quite difficult. I’m really not feeling well. I am moving slower than normal and my throat is starting to hurt.
We are flying with an airline we have not flown with before. When we finally board to plane I am a little concerned. The flight is packed and we are in the very last row. On top of not feeling well and being uncomfortable, I got to add embarrassed to the list. Two years ago I would have to ask for a seatbelt extender every time I got on an airplane, but in the last 2 years I have lost over 100 pounds. I have not needed a seatbelt extender in over a year. Until today. I was brought right back to being 100 pounds heavier. I know I shouldn't have let it get to me, but I already didn't feel well so it was like fire to the flame. I am only human.
Our flight to Chile was awful. It was stuffy and very uncomfortable. My body hurt so bad. I just kept feeling progressively worse as the day went on. When we finally boarded our plane to our final destination, I was feeling about as bad as I could. I was hoping this flight would be better, but no such luck. It just kept getting worse. The seats were the same, the seat belts were still short and I was still miserable. I tried to shift my mindset and think positively, but that was not happening.
When we finally arrived in Lima, I wanted food and a bed. We checked in with our hosts son and he told us we could get food at the mall 2 blocks away. So we walked over to the mall for dinner. We ended up at a roasted chicken restaurant. All I really wanted by the time we got there was water. However, they have no water. Only sparkling water. Which didn't quite do the trick for me.
It was even difficult to find water after dinner. We had to walk a couple of blocks to find a little store. When we finally got back, I immediately put my pajamas on and got in bed. I feel asleep around 8:30pm mid sentence talking to Brian.
I hope I feel better tomorrow.
