Food is something that brings the world together. Each culture has its own traditions and favorite foods. As a self proclaimed foodie, I was so excited to try cuisines in the countries they originated in. During my travels, I have discovered and will undoubtedly continue to discover culinary treasures around the globe. I am honored to share with you, My Elephant Tribe, the amazing meals I have enjoyed throughout the world.
Day 53: Colombia
We were so tired from the night before that we ended up sleeping in and leaving the apartment in search for lunch. We ended up at a restaurant called Vieja. It was good, but our lunch yesterday was much better.
After lunch we walked up a steep hill to Monserrate to see the incredible view that came highly recommended. I still wasn't feeling amazing and the trek to the tram was tough, but of course we made it to see one of the most breathtaking views we have ever seen. That view of Bogota put a lot into perspective for me. No matter how hard the journey, the view from the top makes it all worth it. Focus on your vision, there maybe struggles and heartache and failures and breakdowns along the way, but once you get to the finish line none of the struggles will be significant. They will just be blips in the road on the way to your goal. I know that the walk up the hill was tough and I hated it in the moment, but when I was looking at the view, I wasn’t even thinking of the walk up.
When we made our way back down the mountain we decided that we wanted to get tattoos in Bogota. So we got an Uber to a shop that Brian found online. We made appointments for Friday and I am really excited to add the final touch to my amazing watercolor map.
Since we were there we decided to walk around and check out the shopping in Zona Rosa. It was a little to rich for my blood, but we found a cookie bar called The Cookie Jaar and decided to have dessert before dinner while we mocked the name.
After our dessert we wandered around in search of dinner and settled on mediocre middle eastern shwarma. By the time we finished we decided to call it a night and headed back to our apartment.
